Jade, Lyle, Jayden & Maycie | Grand Junction Photographer

This was one of my first shoots of 2012, and these guys were an excellent way to get the new year started.

We met downtown on Main Street, and these kids brought all kinds of silliness!  Maycie is most definitely a little poser. She only wanted her picture taken if she could do a model pose.  And Jayden made sure to show of his sweet karate skills.  Even though it was pretty chilly and cloudy out, we still had a good time, and they were so sweet and funny.

Jade, thanks for hiring me, it was so nice to meet your adorable family!

Gunnar | Grand Junction Portrait Photography

This is my nephew Gunnar, one of my favorite little people.  He was such a trooper for his 2-year photos, it was COLD outside!  But a little goofing around and peekaboo on my part, and he smiled that heartwarming little smile that he has.  And his mom is pretty cute, too.  That’s my little sister, Kindall.

Enjoy, and stay warm out there!

Dusti | Grand Junction Boudoir Photography

Dusti was actually the driving force behind this series of boudoirs – she contacted me, and talked her slightly more conservative friends into taking the plunge, and I’m so glad she did.  Dusti was AMAZING to work with.  She is incredibly comfortable with herself, and she is funny.  I like me a funny lady.  When I learned that she not only has two kids, but one of them is a 7-month-old, my jaw hit the floor!  Dang!  This girl got tight fast!

Dusti, thank you so much for hiring me, and thank you for being so kind and supportive of my work.  I look forward to lots more fun!

Ali - She is absolutely stunning!

Dusti - Best thing I’ve EVER done in my life! Jen, you are amazing, and I can’t thank you enough for empowering me to do this! I’ve been in a relationship with myself for almost 29 years, and it wasn’t up until I met you and did this, that I finally can say, I think I LOVE myself!

You are a blessing! And a gift!

Jaina - Absolutely stunning! I LOVE them! I would LOVE to do the same, it makes you feel like the average housewife can be desirable. Beautiful subject, and beautiful photography!

Jen Swedhin - Oh Dusti, your words are so kind! Thank you, you were amazing. Not even joking, you were so easy to work with. I’m glad you are in love with yourself, you should be!

Jen Swedhin - Thanks! And you totally should do a session, it is fun and relaxed, and super empowering!

Jen Swedhin - Wow, thank you!

Karen - These are really great photos! I would be honored to have you photograph me! I heard there is a possibility you will be in Oregon?

Jen Swedhin - Yes, we might be moving to the Portland area – nothing is for sure yet, so I don’t know. But maybe!

Ali | Grand Junction Boudoir Photography

I can’t even explain how much I loved doing these boudoir photos.  Meeting new women, hearing about their paths in life, and helping them to feel empowered and sexy is something I wish I could do every day.

This is Ali – she has a 7-year-old, can you believe that?  Ali was a total natural in front of the camera – easy to direct, and easy to take pictures of.  And her hair is so pretty I want to keep it for my own.  Seriously.

Ali, I hope these photos help to show you how truly beautiful you are!

Deb - Those are amaxing photos. My 2 favs are her sitting and looking in the mirror. Her outfit is great. The other one is her on the bed with the sheet. Luv them. :)

Jen Swedhin - Thanks Deb!

Hailie - Gorgeous! Can you make me look this beautiful too?

Jen Swedhin - That is all her!

http://www.cookingwithtrace.com');” rel=’external nofollow’ class=’url’>Trace - wow… I love these… sexy and real. Great smile and I love, love, love the freckles on the shoulders.. Jen, you did a magnificent job capturing all her beauty and sensuality… kudos to you and your model.

Ali - Everyone, thank you for the kind comments. I have always been self conscious about my body. This session was something that I challenges myself to do. It is easy for me to look at these photos and see my flaws. But I cannot thank Jen enough for making this experience so comfortable and for making me proud to be who I am. I am not a size zero and now, I see that that is a good thing. I encourage anyone who is even slightly uncomfortable in their own skin to do this. It is an experience I will never regret. Thank you Jen.

Jen Swedhin - You are so welcome, Ali! Dang, you blew up the comments girl!

Rachel & Josh | Colorado National Monument Wedding

I was going through all of my galleries tonight, and I realized something terrible….I never blogged Josh & Rachel’s beautiful wedding!  I have no idea why, either, it was one of my favorite weddings of 2011.  They got married back in June, too!  Dang, get it together, Jen!

Josh and I went to high school together, and I feel like I have known him most of my life, so I was honored when I got the call from Rachel to chat about wedding photography.  I was even more excited when I found out more about their wedding – a garden gnome and fairy theme.  Sounds a little crazy, but they pulled it off with lots of class and personality.

They were married up on the Colorado National Monument on a super hot day, surrounded by tons of friends and family dressed up to match.  I especially loved seeing Grandma in her fairy headband.  The Monument made for a pretty incredible backdrop for one of the most intimate and heart-felt weddings I have been to in a long time.

The reception was at Chipeta Golf Course, and that place was packed!  Josh and Rachel have an amazing group of people around them, and so many smiling faces were there to wish them the best.  My favorite part of the night was getting to see Rachel and Josh sing a song with all of their siblings.  As their friend this made me smile, but as a mom this touched my heart and made me cry.  The entire day was so beautiful, and Brian (my second shooter and hubby) loved every minute of it.

Josh and Rachel, thank you so much for letting me do your wedding photos, and I wish you both all the best in your marriage and lives.  You truly are lucky to have found each other, you are terrific together.
